Carline and playground supervision begins at 8:00 am.
School begins promptly at 8:30.
Students should line-up at our room number 18 on the blacktop.
After hanging up backpacks, students should go directly to the playground. Students are not allowed to play in the hallway behind kindergarten classrooms or around first and second grade classrooms.
Tardy/Early Dismissal
If you arrive past 8:35, please make sure to sign your child in at the office.
If you are picking your child up early, please sign them out at the office. The office will then notify the classroom, and we will send your child to the office with their belongings.
Dismissal
School ends at 2:40.
Early dismissal on Wednesday is at 1:40.
Please make sure your child knows where s/he is being picked up or goes after school.
Please do not meet your child at the classroom.
Carline To help carline move quickly, efficiently, and safely, please:
Make sure to clearly display your carline sign.
Do not get out of your car. We will help your child into the car.
Do not talk on your cell phone.
Keep your sign clearly posted until your child is in your car.
Please know that carline is a hectic time, and be patient with staff as they do their best to ensure the safety of every child.
Communication:
Your child should bring their backpack to school each day.
Any communication that you would like me to see first thing in the morning should be clipped to your child’s backpack. I may send messages in the same way. Otherwise, e-mail is the best form of communication at [email protected]
Much of the communication you receive from the school will be sent via email unless special arrangements are made with your child’s teacher. The Raccoon Reader, which will include district and school wide information will be sent via email every other Wednesday.
A folder will be sent home on Fridays with student work and parent information. Please remember to remove the work, sign or fill out any papers that need to be sent back to school, and return the folder to your child’s backpack.
Book Bags
In the fall, your child will begin bringing home a book bag.
Book bags will contain teacher selected leveled books specifically geared to the reading needs of the individual child. These books will match their level, and should be able to be read independently with practice.
Students will also be encouraged to select favorite books to add to their book bags. These books may be challenging to read for students, but high interest.
Students should read from their book bag every night.
Please keep the book bag in your child's backpack for frequent in-class use.
Snack
Please make sure to pack a healthy snack for your child. Reed has a NO SUGAR policy for snacks and lunches!
Please make sure snack is packed separately from their lunch. Sealable and reusable containers are best, as crows know where to look for food.
Birthdays
We love to celebrate birthdays! However, with our new Reed District Wellness Policy we will not be celebrating with food or goody bags.
If you would like to pass out invitations at school, please make sure there is an invitation for each student in our classroom.
Clothing
Please make sure clothes are labeled with their names to ensure clothing is returned to them if lost.
A lost and found is located by the lunch tables at the front gate.
Please make sure students are wearing safe shoes, especially on PE days. Crocs and Toms are not considered safe PE shoes.
